The First Hike-able Paddleboard
Role: Product Designer
(Research, Concept Development, Design, Prototyping, Testing)
Duration: 8 Months
Objective: Design a paddleboard that's light enough to hike with and tough enough for backcountry adventures.

Solo SUP™ Backcountry
This is an inflatable paddleboard that weighs less than 15 pounds. That's lighter than most backpacking tents.
It packs down into a 64-liter drybag that doubles as a backpack - so you can hike or bike to remote lakes without feeling like a pack mule. Once you're on the water, that same bag becomes waterproof storage for your gear.
The board uses woven drop-stitch construction, which means it's inflatable but performs like a hardboard. Stable, rigid, and built to handle backcountry conditions.
What's included: a rollable paddle, compact pump, coiled leash, and snap-in fins. Everything you need to paddle somewhere most people can't reach.

Ultra-light Woven Dropstitch Contruction
Here's how it works: two layers of ultra lightweight material connected by thousands of internal fibers running between the top and bottom. Add woven fabric reinforcement, and you get a board that's incredibly rigid when inflated - think hardboard performance without the weight or storage headaches.

‘What if the water you want to paddle doesn’t have easy car access? That’s where Pau Hana’s new Solo Backcountry stand-up paddleboard (SUP) comes in. It packs down impressively small, weighs only about 23lbs, and comes with a dry-bag backpack that’s actually comfortable'

'Previously unreachable lakes and waterways now become accessible'

'With the release of its first hike-able standup paddleboard, Pau Hana has expanded the realm of paddle-able spaces'
