Project Summary

Bloomist is a mobile app that lets people design their own flower bouquets, without the guesswork or awkward in-store conversations. It was built to fill a gap in the floral world: a simple, genuinely fun way to create something personal, right from your phone.

This project started as a UX/UI case study focused on two things. Making bouquet customisation feel effortless, and giving users a reason to enjoy the process, not just rush to checkout. The result is a digital experience that’s creative, intuitive, and flexible enough for everything from last-minute gifts to big occasions.

Duration: 4 Weeks

71% of people want to build their own bouquet. Turns out, most users don't want someone else picking their flowers for them - they want creative control.

71%

57% chose simple and beautiful over endless options. More than half would rather have a clean, gorgeous app experience than scroll through a thousand product variations.

57%

63% are already buying flowers digitally. Nearly two-thirds of customers are ordering from their phones or computers - not walking into shops.

“Sending flowers is a caring gesture. They can be celebratory or for condolences to let someone know you’re thinking about them. I feel they are a reminder to slow down and appreciate the smaller things in life”

- Thea, School Teacher

“I would like the ability to customise the flower bouquet. If I was going to buy someone flowers I would want to select colours or stems I know they like or that go with their home decor”

- Beverley, Retired

Problem

Most flower delivery platforms are efficient, but impersonal. You pick a preset, hope for the best, and miss the chance to create something that actually feels thoughtful or personal.

Solution

Bloomist introduces an intuitive bouquet builder with a neatly categorised flower library. Users can browse by colour, flower type, or occasion, then watch their arrangement come together in real time as they customise. Everything lives in a clean, calming interface with a soft visual palette, so the experience feels creative, not overwhelming.
